Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Staff Housing and Public Information Coordinator supports and coordinates the District’s employee housing program and its public information efforts. The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison among the District, Housing Board, property management company, applicants, tenants, staff, and the community. The position assists with the development, implementation, and ongoing operations of the employee housing program—including eligibility processes, tenant relations, and Board coordination—and helps plan, organize, and deliver effective internal and external communications that support district priorities. The Coordinator contributes to media relations, publications, digital communications, and community engagement, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional information is shared throughout the District and community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Housing Coordination
* Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee housing inquiries, applications, and tenant concerns.
* Review and verify applicant eligibility; maintain accurate waitlists, records, and program documentation.
* Coordinate tenant relations by communicating with residents and collaborating with the property
management company to address questions, issues, and operational needs.
* Support Housing Board operations by preparing agendas and materials, posting notices, ensuring
Brown Act compliance, and coordinating meeting logistics.
* Serve as liaison between the District, Housing Board, property management company, and
district departments to ensure consistent communication and effective program implementation.
* Provide regular updates to the Superintendent and Cabinet and assist in monitoring program effectiveness and compliance.
Public Information and Communication
* Support the development and implementation of districtwide communication plans and strategies.
* Draft, edit, and disseminate clear and accurate communications for internal and external audiences, including newsletters, ParentSquare posts, digital content, and public updates.
* Assist with media relations by preparing press releases, responding to inquiries, and supporting the Superintendent’s role as district spokesperson.
* Produce communication materials such as flyers, presentations, graphics, and website or social media content that reflect district priorities and branding.
* Support community engagement and district events, including Board meetings, housing-related sessions, and public forums.
* Assist with official district communications, including records requests, urgent messages, and preparation of reports or talking points for district leadership.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CLEARANCE
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Mass Communications,
Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Broadcasting or a closely related field and/or
Housing, Public Administration, Community Development, or related field, in addition to
Communications.
Experience: A combination equivalent to: Four (4) years of experience supporting housing programs,
property management, tenant services, or workforce housing operations and/or management
experience coordinating high-level public relations matters and the complex administrative operations
serving as a liaison between governing bodies, service providers, and program participants.
