Natomas Unified School District is seeking a Director, a classified management position, to lead work in the Financial Services department starting in the 2025-26 school year. The leader should be a dynamic and systems-focused leader who promotes teamwork, organizes and directs the district’s fiscal operations and performs other tasks as required. Under the direction of the Associate Superintendent - Administrative Services/CBO, the Director’s duties may include the following: Direct and supervise all day-to-day financial operations including budgeting, accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Develop, monitor, and manage the district’s annual budget in collaboration with school sites, departments, and executive leadership. Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Board of Education, district leadership, and other stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and local laws, as well as school board policies. Lead the preparation and submission of required state financial reports (e.g., interim reports, unaudited actuals, and the Local Control Funding Formula [LCFF]). Oversee financial audits, including coordination with independent auditors and resolution of audit findings. Manage the district’s financial systems and recommend improvements in internal controls, fiscal procedures, and systems efficiency. Monitor and forecast cash flow, and manage investments in accordance with board policy and state law. Support collective bargaining efforts with fiscal analysis and cost projections. Provide training and guidance to site and department staff on financial policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with Human Resources in maintaining effective position control procedures.

Education/Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities could qualify someone for this position. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: *Graduation from an accredited college or university with a B.A. or B.S. (Masters Degree or CPA preferred) in business, economics, accounting, finance or a related field. *Five years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting and budgeting or a related field, preferably in a public school system. *At least two years in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
