Under direction, to plan, organize and supervise the daily operations of the accounting department of the school district.
Representative Duties
Plans, organizes and supervises the work of the accounting office.
Supervises the preparation of payroll, the proper receipt and disbursement of funds, and performs responsible tasks in connection with the above functions.
Develops data and statistics to assist in the area of budget control.
Monitors the effectiveness of the District’s internal accounting procedures and makes recommendations for changes when needed.
Reviews the financial statements and monitors the accounting procedures for school site student body organizations.
Assists in the preparation and monitoring of computerized systems for accounting and payroll.
Responsible for the preparation of required Federal, State and local payroll and program reports.
Participates in the selection, training and evaluation of the employees assigned to the accounting office.
May be assigned other responsibilities in related areas.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of
Methods, practices and terminology used in the purchasing of school district supplies, equipment and public work contracts.
Use of computers and spreadsheet applications.
Laws and regulations governing financial record keeping, reporting and revenue of public K-12 education.
Principles of school accounting.
Budget development and control.
Data processing as it relates to financial record keeping and reporting.
General principles of supervision and training.
Business math.
Computer terminal operating methods.
Computer skills commensurate with job requirements.
Ability to

Plan, organize and direct financial record keeping, reporting, budget development and control activities of the department.
