GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Superintendent. Responsible for the overall coordination and administration of district-wide functions related to budget, accounting, payroll, maintenance, transportation, nutrition services, purchasing, and risk management.
Key Functions and Duties:
Plan, organize and direct the activities and operations of the Division of Business Services; assume responsibility for developing statements of policy relating to business and support service functions
Manage the preparation of the annual budgets for all district funds, including details of income and expenditures
Maintain and assure continuous budget controls based on anticipated revenues and expenditures for restricted and unrestricted accounts
Review and prepare required financial reports and auditing functions in accordance with federal, state and county law
Attend board meetings, prepare related reports, and plan presentations as requested
Administer and interpret statutes, regulations, and policies involving the legal responsibilities of fiscal management
Represent the district in meetings with various stakeholders including parents, community leaders, and government officials regarding business and support service issues
Assume the responsibility for the development and coordination of long-range operational plans for each major division in the district
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, accounting, public administration, or a related field
At least five years of successful experience working in business, facilities, and/or operations within a public education setting
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability

Establish priorities and coordinate a variety of complex fiscal and support functions involving multiple specialized units
Develop a collaborative working relationship with the Board, Superintendent, and other members of Cabinet
Interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations
Analyze problems and involve staff in developing effective solutions.
Work effectively with officials, district employees, and outside agencies
Assemble and analyze data and make appropriate recommendations for action
Work well with consultants, contractors, planners, auditors, and others involved in projects and operations
Knowledge of:
Laws and regulations governing public education, finance, and fiscal controls
Effective business practices within an educational setting
