Job Description: Director of Facilities, Maintenance, Operations and Transportation 220 Days
Qualifications A. Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. Requires advanced professional knowledge of the following: maintenance and operations management, financial management in facilities and maintenance operations, budget preparation and administration.
B. Knowledge of : - Effective group process and facilitation skills and public relations techniques; - Effective written and oral communication using correct English and grammar skills; - Requires a working knowledge of performance evaluation, federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations as they apply to the facility planning and construction processes. - Requires the ability to negotiate contracts, prepare complex plans, reports, and correspondence, and present to large audiences. - Theories of education facility design, instructional theory, methods and practices and State education facilities guidelines. - Developing and implementing a 5-year deferred maintenance plan - Energy management best practices, including environmental initiatives (i.e. recycling, composting, energy management audits, solar energy projects, etc.) - Food Service Operations, including creating efficiencies - Student Transportation laws, codes, regulations, practices and creating efficiencies
C. Ability to: - Aid in the design of appropriate, effective, efficient, and safe facilities; interpret data from a variety of sources to extract necessary data for preparation of plans and reports; - Develop, implement, and monitor short and long range facility maintenance plans - Effectively manage teams and evaluate employee performance - Monitor and evaluate energy management and thermostat control scheduling; - Conduct research, prepare and present oral and/or written reports and represent the District; - Perform a wide range of professional, administrative, advocacy, and liaison duties involved in the facility planning process; - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with District administrators and representatives of a wide variety of public agencies, community groups, and private industry. - Do claims review and negotiations; - Review and evaluate transportation routes to add students, change routes, and achieve efficiencies.

General Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent, the Director will represent the District in the role of chief overseer of facilities and maintenance, operations, and transportation in the school district.
Duties and Responsibilities As assessed by the Assistant Superintendent, Business/CBO, the outcome of the Director of Facilities, Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation job performance will be as follows: - Establishes goals and objectives for facilities, maintenance, operations, and transportation; prepares materials, creates agendas for administrative meetings, school board, staff, and public presentations. - Oversees energy and utility management programs and green initiatives, including conservation, waste reduction, recycling, composting, energy management audits, and solar energy projects. - Coordinates and oversees project development in facilities, maintenance, operations, and transportation at all district sites. - Develops, implements, and monitors short and long-range facility maintenance plans including related budgets. - Takes responsibility for all facilities communications. Maintains project records and database working closely with the Assistant Superintendent to track and record all costs associated with facilities, maintenance, operations, and transportation. Responsible for designing and maintaining an input and feedback process, and responding in a timely manner to inquiries from staff and the public. - Works closely with administration, principals, plant supervisors, and staff to evaluate and communicate special facility needs related to educational programs. Mitigates the impact of special facility needs related to educational programs. - Develops and maintains plans and budgets for related department programs. - Directs consultants’ work including managing contracts, invoicing, reviews, approvals, requests for additional services, etc. - Oversight and management of the district’s Food Service program. - Oversight and management of the district’s transportation program. - Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. - Updates and apprises School Board of department-related board policies. - Manages and evaluates personnel in maintenance, operations, food service, and transportation departments. - Ensures safety and security of district facilities through oversight of security systems, alarms, disease management, and pest management. - Oversees district safety plans. - Takes responsibility for the maintenance and management of district vehicles and driver training. - Oversees district facility rental program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and to maximize related revenue. - Assists in the implementation of related facilities projects including, but not limited to, technology-specific projects, to ensure continuity of support for facilities operations.
