Under the direction of the Chief Business Official, plans, organizes, and supervises the maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings and equipment and does other related duties as required. The Director of Facilities is assigned the responsibility for developing and planning a systematic program of maintenance for the District within its budgetary limitations, administers maintenance services policy and interview and evaluates all maintenance personnel.
Representative Duties:
Serves as the direct supervisor of the Transportation, Maintenance, Grounds and Operations Supervisors, and skilled trades.
Inspects buildings and grounds, determines the work needed for maintenance, organizes and plans a systematic program of preventive maintenance and upkeep.
Recommends building programs and priorities; maintains building records and state reports, and coordinates the preparation and submission of applications for State Facilities Funding Program.
Coordinates, implements, and supervises the constructions, modernization, reconstruction, and relocation of new and existing schools and District facilities.
Meets with district and community groups affected by facilities projects, and represents the District to parent and community groups on matters related to maintenance, operations, and facilities.
Consults with and advises architects and contractors on the design construction or alteration of school buildings and landscaped areas, reviewing and assisting in making changes to plans and specifications.
Estimates project costs and prepares budget requests indicating priority for work to be performed.
Prepares estimates of construction and labor costs and verifies with the actual costs when work is completed.
Prepares specifications for materials to be used, inspects work done for compliance with standards established.
Supervises assigned maintenance personnel in the performance of their duties; reviews and checks the work of maintenance personnel assigned to buildings.
Recommends employment and assignment of personnel as required.
Supervises large-scale repair work or unusual projects undertaken by District personnel.
Confers with the site principals on maintenance and operations problems and makes recommendations as required.
Maintains complete records and maps of utility systems and changes made in these systems.
Prepares and recommends the annual maintenance budget.
Makes recommendations concerning purchase of materials and equipment.
Creates, implements, and revises an annual budget for expenditures for facilities and operations.
Oversees the scheduling and use of school facilities by community organizations.
Acts as the designated Risk Manager for the District.
Coordinates the creation and maintenance of a Facility Master Plan
Manages the Developer Fee exemption process.
Perform other duties as directed.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Knowledge of
Tools, materials, working practices, and methods of the building trades.
Ability to plan and supervise a maintenance program, materials and equipment, and working procedures and methods required in the day-by-day upkeep of school buildings and grounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education High School Diploma (some college work desired) and certifications that correlate within the job duties described herein. Experience Three years of skilled experience in the construction or maintenance and operations of a school district, military establishment, or industrial plant. Licenses and Other Requirements DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance,Negative TB test within the last four years, Valid California Driver’s License
