The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the nation's second largest school district, is seeking a DEPUTY CHIEF BUSINESS OFFICER, FINANCE, to assist the Chief Business Officer in managing the financial services and services provided by several major business divisions of the District and participates in the planning and implementation of policies and programs and acts as the Chief Business Officer as required.

He/she must possess public sector financial knowledge, managerial skills and commitment to public education to improve the productivity of the business divisions and positivity impact the lives of the students and educators of Los Angeles Unified School District.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Experience developing, managing and evaluating staff to insure the highest level of professional integrity in the delivery of all District financial services;
Excellent executive-level financial planning, analytical and problem-solving skills to work on behalf of the District to assist the Chief Business Officer in the preparation of sound financial and action plans that further the educational mission of the District;
The ability to articulate complex financial information and concepts to a variety of internal and external audiences;
Experience developing, managing and evaluating staff to insure the highest level of professional integrity in the delivery of all District financial services;
Awareness and engagement in the broader public and school finance industry represented by involvement in professional organizations that track the economic, political, legislative, social and competitive forces and trends that affect the public school finance field;
Professional resiliency and the ability to maintain his/her composure and relationships and thrive in a “high-demand” complex work environment that often experiences unexpected shifts in priorities;
Experience working and maintaining positive, effective communication, the public, colleagues and community members, within an urban setting with diverse economic, multi-cultural and multi-lingual constituencies;
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are vital for to reach out, listen and build confidence, trust and consensus related to the delivery of sound and trusted financial information and recommendations;
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally, in both written and oral presentations, to individuals and groups.
Entrance Qualifications for both Education and Experience:
Education: Graduation* from a recognized college or university preferably with a major in business, accounting, or a related field. An advanced degree in business administration, accounting, public administration, or a related field is highly desirable
Experience: Six (6) years of executive or administrative experience with financial management responsibilities in a public or private organization that includes multiple business functions. Significant experience with public sector financial issues is required.
Experience in presenting reports in public meetings of a governing board, such as a board of education, commission or board of directors is desirable.
Special: A valid California Driver License and the availability of private transportation, or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.
