The Los Angeles Unified School District, Office of the Chief Financial Officer is seeking a Director of Finance Policy with a strong project management background, a comprehensive experience with the analysis of laws, rules, regulations, options and decisions that affect the financial activities of the District and a track record of sound judgment and decision-making skills. The Director of Finance Policy will join a management team committed to providing the district with sound professional advice, leadership and supporting an environment that fosters educational achievements. The ideal candidate for this challenging position is an individual who will contribute to the District by directing and reviewing projects and committee work for the administration of various financial activities related to the General Fund budget, special fund budgets including developing pathways to increase school-based decision making and student-based allocation of resources. The ideal candidate for the Director of Finance Policy will have solid and broad understanding of the administration of a school district. He/she will also have evidence of experience directing and reviewing the successful outcome of broad scale projects and assisting with the coordination of administrative work committee for various financial activities, including developing pathways to increase school-based decision making and student-based allocation of resources. He/she will understand the inner working of a complex organization and have the experience skillfully solving problems, resolving issues, and producing meaningful results working both as an individual and committees as a representative of the District. Additionally, this director will be diplomatic relationship builder who has demonstrated the ability to interface with a wide variety of internal District stakeholders such as the Superintendent, Board of Education, executive staff, and external parties including representatives of private firms, other governmental agencies, legal authorities, and the public in matters affecting financial services. S/he must have excellent communication, conflict management and interpersonal skills as well as organizational savvy and skill at managing one’s own time, priorities, and resources.
