The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full-time Special Assistant to the Chancellor with the Chancellor’s Office on the Valencia Campus. The ideal candidate will share our college’s commitment to educating the more than 32,000 racially and socioeconomically diverse students we enroll each year. Currently, our student body is approximately 45.4 percent Latinx/Hispanic, 32.2 percent White, 6.3 percent Asian, 5.5 percent African-American, 4.5 percent Pacific Islander, 2 percent multi-ethnic, and less than 1 percent Native American. Provides professional-level assistance to the Chancellor in his/her day-to-day leadership of the operations of the District and his/her representation of the District in the external community. Organizes, anticipates, initiates, plans, administers, and supervises all programs, functions, and operations of the Office of the Chancellor.Selects, trains, leads, and evaluates all staff assigned to the office.Coordinates events, information, and communications. Prepares a variety of written materials.Other duties as assigned.

Experience:Five years of full-time equivalent experience which would demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties that are essential to this position.Experience must be in public administration, organizational management, public relations, executive support, or a related area, and includes executive representation, supervision and performance of complex administrative tasks; and
Education:Master’s degree in Public Administration, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field, from an accredited institution.
A valid California (Class C or higher) driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance in order to travel in district and/or privately owned vehicles while engaged in official business.
