Description of Position:
The Chief Business Officer, shall be directly responsible to the Superintendent and shall be responsible for the general management of business and financial operations of the district. The Chief Business Officer provides highly confidential and complex assistance to the District Superintendent and the Board of Trustees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares and develops plans for immediate and long-range financial needs.
Plans, directs and develops the annual budget, financial statements and interim reports.
Provides for audit of district and school accounts.
Implements and assists in the formulation of board policies and administrative regulations in the area of Business Services.
Responsible for all reports and resolutions related to Business Services.
Plans and directs budget control procedures.
Develops and recommends a district budget calendar.
Directs financial accounting and reporting operations.
Directs the district’s investment program to include monthly reports to the board of trustees.
Responsible for monitoring cash flow, income and all expenditures to insure financial stability at all times.
Directs all district purchasing, warehousing, inventory, distribution and control of supplies.
Oversees and coordinates plans for immediate and long-range school facility and plant needs.
Supervises the Budget/Accounting, Maintenance and Operations, Transportation and Food Service departments.
Directs the district’s property, liability and student insurance programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Modern and current practices related to business services and public schools.
All aspects of business service operations in a school district and the dynamics of business service management.
State and Federal laws, and district policies/regulations related to business services
Write and speak clearly and correctly in English.
Communicate effectively with staff, students and community in a sensitive manner.
Exercise good judgment, tact, patience, and confidentiality.
Work cooperatively and harmoniously with others.
Utilize technology effectively.
Credentials and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or five (5) years successful experience in the area of school district business administration.
At least five (5) years of Successful administrative, or supervision experience at the site and/or District level in school business.
Knowledge of accepted school business practices; all aspects of business operations in a school district and the dynamics of business management.
Possess a valid California Drivers license

Position requires no extraordinary physical strength or qualifications.
Work assignments are normally located in a work environment with no unusual physical requirements or environmental conditions; require only light physical functions.
Lifting 25 pounds maximum or carrying any object weighing 15 lbs.
Work year - 220 day

Additional Salary Information: The District shall provide an annual contribution in the amount of $7,262 for Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance. The Fringe Benefit amount is NOT included in the annual salary indicated on the salary schedule
