The Birmingham Community Charter High School is seeking an experienced Accounting Associate with strong financial and analysis skills. This person will apply accounting and clerical expertise to maintain the Charter’s solvency.
The successful candidate will independently perform a variety of highly professional, technical, and analytical accounting functions.
A FEW OF THE MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Create cash deposit and payment tracking spreadsheets; inputs vendor payments into spreadsheets and database
Prepare pre-list authorization for payment requisitions; obtains check signature and arranges for payment mailing; issues approved checks; files back-up documentation
Track expenditures and receivables; maintains W-9 forms for all vendors; reconciles bank statements (e.g. credit card, Home Depot account, Amazon account)
Perform responsible technical duties related to the acquisition of supplies, equipment and materials, assist staff in the determination of sources of supply, obtaining current prices, detailed specifications and delivery information; assure timely delivery and follow up on delivery as necessary
Perform accounts payable and receivable work for complex and specialized accounts such as professional services contracts, lease agreements, service agreements, numerous vendors and other invoices through the applicable financial system
Knowledge and ability:
Accounting and fiscal systems, policies, procedures and practices
Perform professional and technical accounting work involved in the preparation and maintenance of financial records
Maintain a variety of fiscal records, accounts and funds
Analyze and resolve problems and draw accurate conclusions
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree in business, accounting or closely related is required. Bachelor degree with a focus in accounting or business is preferred.
A minimum of two years of full-time experience in accounting, bookkeeping, business or finance that included responsibility for accounts payable or receivable
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$21.80 - $26.07 per hour, depending upon verifiable experience and qualifications

12 month work year
