Escondido Union School District (N. County San Diego) is looking for an experienced Director of Information Systems to plan, develop, implement, direct, review and evaluate the programs and activities in the Technology Services department relating to data management, district-wide computing and network resources, and use of electronic equipment, and computer peripherals.
Some Responsibilities Include:
Þ Plan and direct the activities in the Technology Services Department relating to: the development, implementation, management and on-going evaluation of the district-wide network infrastructure, telephone, voicemail, video and data communications.
Þ Provide for cabling, network configuration, file server configuration, setup and troubleshooting as necessary.
Þ Direct the development and maintenance of all data systems, including feasibility studies, systems analysis and design, computer programing, conversion of data, information storage and retrieval management data controls.
Þ Oversee the district administrative, human resources, financial and student information systems.
Þ Establish district-wide policies, standards, practices and security measures to assure the integrity and reliability of computerized information, communications and systems.
Þ Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery and physical security procedures.
Some of the Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required
¨ Knowledge of Principles and Practices of data processing program development, administration, and evaluation.
¨ Knowledge of programing languages such as Java, Visual Basic, C/C++, database design and management, AppleScript and common platform management applications.
¨ Knowledge of principles and practices of planning, design. Installation, and maintenance of telecommunications systems.
¨ Knowledge of operational characteristics and requirements of computer hardware and peripheral equipment.
¨ Ability to direct and evaluate the operations and activities of the technology services department including data systems, district-wide telecommunications network and the installation, repair, and use of electronic equipment, software and computer peripherals.
¨ Ability to develop and implement programs to accomplish goals and objective.
¨ Ability to oversee and participate, as needed, in the planning and development of department work plans.
¨ Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
¨ Ability to communicate effectively across the organization.
