Atascadero Unified School District is actively seeking a Director of Support Services. This position is under the general direction of the Superintendent or designee, and will organize and direct all aspects of facilities planning including research, analysis and design; plan, organize and direct all aspects of the Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan; plan, direct and coordinate the District’s Educational Specifications process; plan, direct and coordinate the District’s Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation (MOT) Department functions, including but not limited to oversight of custodial, grounds, warehouse, food service, and transportation.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of architectural engineering procedures; school building construction and building details and materials; safety requirements for maintenance and operation of school buildings and equipment; federal and state financial assistance programs; local city, county and state agencies’ planning requirements; principles and practices of financial and budget administration; school district assets management, laws and regulations pertaining to the repair of school buildings; employee workers compensation administration and practices, and laws and practices pertaining to school transportation.
Ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the activities of a multi-functional division and departments; determine maintenance needs and to plan and schedule such work, coordinate, direct and supervise the work of subordinates in maintenance duties, plan coordinate, direct and evaluate the work of personnel involved in maintaining school buildings; carry out district policies as they pertain to maintenance; collect, study, analyze and interpret technical, statistical, economic and physical data; write and prepare clear, informative and complete reports; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; understand and follow oral and written directions and good administrative practices.
Proficient in the construction methodology of DSA planning and documentation for California public school facilities.
Utilize state regulations for classroom occupancy to assist district departments with the calculation and communication of staffing formulas for all schools.
Additional Salary Information: An educational enhancement on your base annual salary of 2.00% if the employee has a Master's Degree, or has obtained a District approved equivalent industry standard certificate.
