Under general supervision of the Director of Business Services, Business Services Assistant II performs a range of chief fiscal officer type business services in areas including but not limited to payroll (including public employee retirement systems), accounts payables and receivables, financial reporting, budget, maintenance and operations, facilities, transportation, food service, child development, special education, SELPA, and fiscal oversight of school districts, and takes on added level of responsibility, complexity of duties, and consequence of error.
Current opening is a supervisory position in the El Dorado County Office of Education SELPA office.
BSA I Essential Job Functions covered under BSA II role:
- Prepares or assists in preparation of annual operating budgets - Monitors budget and prepares regular updates including, but not limited to, first interim and second interim budget reports - Provides budget reports and updates as may be requested - Determines sources of income available for operation with assistance from the Director or BSA II - Monitors and reviews existing and proposed laws and legislation related to school finance and other business and operational functions - Prepares federal, state and local reports as required for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information - Attends meetings for the purpose of providing information relative to school business management with assistance from the Director or BSA II - Provides school business related technical expertise and coordinates communication between county office/school districts and federal, state and local agencies - Supports administration with issues related to collective bargaining and provides information as needed with assistance from the Director or BSA II - Monitors State school attendance accounting regulations for the purpose of preparing required attendance reports and developing procedures - Coordinates year-end close accounting activities for the purpose of accurately closing the financial records with assistance from the Director or BSA II - Prepares and reviews year end financial reports as required with assistance from the Director or BSA II - Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with a major in business or education; this requirement may be waived if the individual has demonstrated five years of increasingly responsible successful experience in the area of school finance and administration.
Completion of a Chief Business Official (CBO) training program is beneficial.
EXPERIENCE Prior job related experience in California school accounting/school finance and electronic spreadsheet, data bases and computer data processing.
