General Duties: Under the direction of the Chief Business Official, plans, organizes and supervises all aspects of the district’s plant operations, maintenance, grounds, and custodial services. Establishes and maintains effective systems for timely scheduling and completion of maintenance and operations activities. Trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel in accordance with employee contract timelines. Inspects and develops reports on projects, and performs related duties with other departments and outside agencies as assigned.

Requires professional knowledge of management practices related to grounds and building maintenance operations, and preventative maintenance principles and practices. Requires knowledge and skills related to proper methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in building maintenance and repair, grounds maintenance, and custodial activities. Requires a working knowledge of all applicable building codes, ordinances, requirements, regulations, safety precautions, policies and procedures. Requires the ability to modify or adapt systems or programs for the purposes of meeting ongoing procedural and technological change. The position requires any combination equivalent to two years of college-level coursework in business, management, or a related field, and four years of increasingly responsible experience in the field of maintenance and/or operations; including two years in a lead capacity.
